Caltech originated company Rockoco has received funding to continue development of its Nanocut diamond enhancement technology. The Nanocut (or “Nanopolish”) technique etches a diffraction grating pattern on the surface of the stone. This “separates light into its spectral components, causing incident white light to
appear as flashes of colored light”. The company stresses that this technique is simply a form of cutting and polishing – nothing is added to or altered in the diamond.
The new funding will allow the company move move out of Caltech and into its own premises.
