With all the news stories about greed, crime and selfishness it’s sometimes tempting to despair of the human condition. However there are still some decent, honest people left.
Last Sunday, Janet Massimino of Utah was at Pittsburgh International Airport. When she arrived she was wearing a 2 carat 25th wedding anniversary diamond ring worth $25,000. When she left, the ring was on the floor of the airport.
Fortunately for Massimino the ring was discovered by airport custodian John Beatty of Beaver Falls who handed it in. Within two hours the airport authorities had arranged for the ring to be shipped back to its owner.
Massimino said:
Anyone who found it could have easily put it in their pocket and just walked away. It’s a wonderful thing they turned it in. I can’t thank everyone enough.
Hats off to Mr Beatty for restoring at least some of my faith in human nature.
