Cremation Diamonds

Cremation Diamonds – also known as memorial diamonds – are a fairly recent innovation that seems to be gaining in popularity. They provide a way of immortalising a small remainder of a loved one in a diamond.

What Are Cremation Diamonds?

Cremation diamonds are lab created diamonds made using either a sample of a dead person’s cremation ashes or a lock of hair. The carbon from the person’s remains is incorporated in the diamond production process to create a unique stone that literally contains part of their earthly essence.

Once the memorial diamond has been created it can then be set and used exactly as any other diamond – wearing the stone as a pendant, possibly in an engraved locket, is one choice many people find comforting. As with all diamonds the cremation stone needs proper care and handling.

It’s not just humans who can have their remains used to create diamonds. Some companies will also produce memorial stones from the remains of pets.

Where a diamond is made from a person or animal’s hair rather than ashes the donor could still be alive – stones produced from a living donor are sometimes known as celebration diamonds.
